Back to School Activities for Distance Learning or In-Person Learning
Every year my students love these Back to School activities. Not only do they love sharing about themselves and getting to know their classmates, but they love working in Google Slides. Get ready for full engagement.
For many of them, it’s the first time they’re working in Google Slides and these activities give them practice inserting images, using text boxes, and even learning to comment. Don’t worry if they haven’t used Slides before. A quick demonstration via screen share in Meets or Zoom or in the classroom is all they need.
Whether you’re in the classroom or distance learning, students are going to have fun coming up with clues about themselves, creating an all about me image collage, playing Find a Friend BINGO and more.
9 Back to School Google Slides Activities Include:
- Get to Know Me Emoji
- Find a Friend BINGO
- Would You Rather
- Guess Who?
- Letter to My Teacher
- All About Me Collage
- 5 Things You Should Know About Me
- Get to Know a New Friend
- Beginning of the Year Profile
6 of these activities have students collaborating in ONE Slides presentation. They’ll work together in presentations and learn to use the “Comment” feature of Google Slides to give each other feedback as you build a classroom community.
These were great for back to school so students learned about each other while also learning to do things on the computer and in Google Slides.
Annie, 2nd/3rd Grade Teacher
So great for anytime of the year, especially when you are thrown into distance learning and end up with 2 new students. It allows them to get to know their new classmates as well as the class getting to know them. It was a great way to rebuild our classroom community.
Sara, 5th Grade Teacher
I like that you can teach collaboration while teaching students how to use Google Classroom and Slides!
Jessica, Teacher
Kids ate this up! They loved the collage and interacting with their peers!
