October November and December Morning Meetings that Will Get Students Excited

Jamboard is the ultimate tool for collaboration, community building, and encouraging all students to share their voice.

Using Fall-themed Jamboard templates are the best ways to get your students interacting during October, November, and December. Google Jamboard is an easy collaborative tool you can use as bell ringers, for morning meeting, creating cards, and even for your closing circle.

How do teachers use Jamboard for Morning Meeting in the Fall?

1. Keep students focused with bell ringers

If you’ve ever had students come to school in the morning and they’re unsure of what to do, you know how loud and chaotic it can feel while you’re answering questions, talking to parents, or getting the last things in place for the day.

It’s important to start your day off on the right foot from the moment that students enter your room in the morning.

One of the easiest ways to focus your students when they arrive is to give them a Jamboard to respond to.

All you have to do is share the Jamboard link with students through your Google Classroom (or however you share links) so they can access it right when they walk into the classroom.

A fun Jamboard to do during October is a This or That Jamboard. Asking students if they prefer a haunted house or trick-or-treating, scary costumes or funny costumes, or a pumpkin patch or apple picking is a fun way to get them interacting in the morning.

They’ll add a sticky note to the Jamboard with their name on it and vote for their choice while watching the board fill up with their classmates’ responses.

You can even have students think of the This or That choices themselves. Just have them decide on the choices before the go home the day before. These can get pretty funny, especially for Halloween with all the creepy, gooey topics they might think of.

Here are some other ideas for your Jamboards in October:

2. Create a Veterans Day card

A fun and easy way for students to co-create a thank you card for a veteran on Veterans Day is to use Jamboard with personalized messages.

Each day leading up to Veterans Day, you can create a Veterans Day card for a family member of one of your students.

The Jamboard can be downloaded as an image and emailed to the veteran or you can print out a paper copy and send it home with that student.

Don’t have tons of time? Create one card with messages from students and send the copy to all of the veterans your students know.

Want each student to make their own? Give each student their own Jamboard template and have them insert images and sticky notes with messages and pictures to show their appreciation.

Here are some fun topics to use for your October Jamboards:

3. Use Jamboard for your morning meeting questions and get 100% participation

We’ve all had students that wouldn’t participate in a discussion if they didn’t have to.

I find that Jamboards are loved by all my students, especially my quietest learners who might get anxious when they’re expected to speak in front of the entire group.

With Jamboard, your students don’t have to worry about raising their hand to talk in front of the class. They can simply respond with their idea on a sticky note.

And if you have a really talkative class, using a Jamboard allows everyone to get a chance to share their ideas, not just a few that you have time to call on.

You can use Jamboards for class discussions during morning meeting, a transition, after recess to settle students, and even as a closing activity before students go home.

5. Celebrate the special days like National Pizza Day and Children's Book Week

Let’s be honest, holidays just make school days better.

(Okay as I reread that, holidays make school days better if they don’t involve a lot of prep! Luckily there’s ZERO PREP with Jamboard.)

Everyone’s in a good mood and both teachers and students love holiday-themed learning activities.

Beyond the holidays in October, November, and December that we think of, there’s also a bunch of national special days and weeks!

Most of us know about Fire Safety Week, but did you know there’s a National Popcorn Popping Month?

How do you celebrate National Popcorn Popping Day you ask?

Well, introduce the day with a Jamboard question and bring in an air popper (students love this) or microwave some popcorn to make the day extra special! It’s so easy.

There’s also National Puzzle and Game Week. For this day, you can use a Jamboard to have students share some of their favorite games that they play with their families. Make it really fun by setting aside some “game time” at the end of the day. You could even have them earn the game time by having positive behavior throughout the day.

Celebrating special days like this take minimal effort on your part and can give huge results in terms of your classroom community and getting those resistant learners excited about coming to school!

There are tons of special days throughout the year, but here are some of our favorite ones during October, November, and December:

5. Promote Acts of Kindness for students all month

You can also use the same Jamboard throughout an entire month to promote acts of kindness by your students.

In the 25 Acts of Kindness Jamboard, students can add a sticky note recognizing someone that’s done something that stands out as extra kind.

By the end of the month, your class will have an entire collection of acts of kindness.

You can even give students their own Acts of Kindness Jamboard and let them add a sticky note every time they do something kind for someone else.

Don’t forget to remind them throughout the month to check in with their chart to see how it’s progressing.

Imagine if one simple activity can build a habit of kindness in each of your students. ❤️
